Durgapur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman was withdrawn and attached to the Netrokona police line on Tuesday for beating a Jubo league leader inside the police station.
Confirming the matter, Netrokona Superintendent of Police (SP) Akbar Ali Munshi said: "A three-member probe committee has also been formed for further investigation."
On Monday evening, Alam Talukdar, executive member of Bakoljora Union Jubo League, beat a Chhatra Dal activist named Kaiyum at the MP intersection in Durgapur municipality, as he and two others were carrying weapons.
Hearing the news, police came to the scene, detained both Alam and Kaiyum and took them to the police station.
Later, Chhatra Dal activist Kaiyum brought allegations of abduction against Alam at the police station.
At one point, OC Mizanur Rahman beat Jubo league leader Alam black and blue.
Alam Talukdar is currently undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
