Ruling party MP Ekramul Karim Chowdhury’s son Shabab Chowdhury has rammed into a police patrol vehicle in Chittagong.
The incident took place at the city’s Lalkhan Bazar under Khulshi police station on Saturday night, OC Pranab Chowdhury of local police told Dhaka Tribune.
Shabab, accused of killing a man in Dhaka two years ago, was reportedly released after signing an undertaking.
Pranab said: “The lawmaker’s son was behind the wheels during the accident.”

In a clear attempt to downplay the issue, the police officer described the issue as a case of ‘misunderstanding’.
“It [the accident] was nothing serious and the matter was mutually resolved,” he told Dhaka Tribune.
The OC, however, admitted that an argument broke out soon after the lawmaker’s son rammed into the police vehicle.
Responding to a query, the OC said Shabab was not detained or even taken to the police station.
On June 19, 2018, a man was killed in Dhaka, hit by a car registered in the name of MP Ekram’s wife.
Witnesses said 50-year-old Salim Bepari was crossing Airport Road in the Banani area of the capital when he was hit by an Audi SUV.

According to media reports, MP Ekramul's son Shabab was driving the car when the accident happened.
He fled the scene and took refuge in NAM Bhaban, opposite the parliament complex on Manik Mia Avenue, where his father has a government-allotted flat.
The car’s logo and licence plate, registration number Dhaka Metro-Gha 13-7655, was found beside the lifeless body of Salim near Setu Bhaban of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority.
MP Ekramul and his wife, Kamrun Nahar Shiuli, chairman of Kabirhat upazila in Noakhali, claimed Shabab was not driving the SUV when the accident took place.
