Police have arrested a man reportedly for attempting to rape a child in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
The accused, Sirajul Islam, 55, a resident of Paschimpara area, used to live in the same building as the child's family, local sources said.
On Monday afternoon, Sirajul lured the child into his room and attempted to rape her when her parents weren’t around. He then tried to rape the child, but as she started to scream, he let her go, the case statement say.
"My four-year-old child complained about having a stomach ache at night. After checking her up with a doctor on Tuesday, the brutal incident came to light," said the mother of the child.
"As we informed the locals, they caught and handed Saiful over to the police," she added.
Confirming the incident, Fatullah Model police station Sub-inspector, Shuvo Ahmed said: "Acting on the case, we arrested Saiful and sent him to court on Wednesday. "
