3 UP members suspended over irregularities in relief distribution

So far, 59 public representatives have been suspended for plundering relief materials during the pandemic

The Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry has suspended three Union Parishad (UP) members over irregularities in relief distribution.

The ministry issued separate notifications in this regard on Monday, reports UNB.

Those suspended are UP members Abdur Razzak Sheikh of No 5 ward of Aliabad Union Parishad of Faridpur Sadar upazila, Kulsum Begum (reserved seat) of No 7, 8, and 9 ward of Palashbari Union Parishad in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon district, and Nilufa Khatun, (reserved seat) of No 4, 5, and 6 ward of Char Islampur Union Parishad in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district.

So far, 59 public representatives have been suspended for plundering relief materials during the pandemic. Of them, 20 are UP chairmen, 36 UP members, one Zila Parishad member and two municipality councillors.
