Another teenager arrested for harassing female coronavirus hotline operators

Earlier, on the same day, police arrested a 13-year-old from Fulbaria in Kushtia around 8:30am for a similar offence

Police have arrested another teenage boy for making inappropriate remarks to female operators on different hotline numbers, run by Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) to help coronavirus patients amidst the epidemic.

The 17-year-old was arrested from Valayan village of Naogaon district on Tuesday around 09:30 pm.

The Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) Cyber Crime unit’s Additional Superintendent Khairul Alam confirmed the incident.

“We tracked down the boy’s location, while Noagaon police conducted a drive to arrest him,” he said.

“He would call the hotline, and start making indecent advances whenever a woman received the call,” he added. 

Khairul said the boy confessed to his crimes during primary interrogation.
