The shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in Sylhet has been declared closed on the day of Shab-e-Barat (Thursday) and also the day after (Friday) to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The decision was taken to avoid large gatherings at the shrine on these two days, said a press release issued by the shrine authority.
Meanwhile, the shrine of Hazrat Manik Pir (RA) — also the largest graveyard in Sylhet — has imposed similar restrictions too..
Entrance to the shrine premise and the graveyard will remain restricted on the night of Shab-e-Barat.
Earlier, the Religious Affairs Ministry urged all Muslim devotees to observe the holy day at their respective homes amid the ongoing countrywide shutdown.
