A teenage girl has died at the coronavirus isolation ward of Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital in Sylhet around 2pm on Tuesday.
The 16-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital around 11am the same day.
The girl's throat swab was collected before her death; it will be sent to Dhaka for confirmation of coronavirus infection, said District Civil Surgeon Dr Premendro Mondol confirming her death.
Himanshu Lal Roy, deputy director of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, said the girl had died of natural causes.
"Her body will soon be handed over to her family members," he added.
Earlier, a woman returning from the UK had died at the same isolation ward of Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital on March 22.
Three days later, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research, in a statement said, the woman’s test results came back negative for coronavirus infection.
