Construction worker dies from electrocution in Bogra

A construction worker was killed after being electrocuted while working on the roof of an under-construction building in Sariakandi upazila of Bogra on Friday morning.

The deceased, Shakil Ahmed, 26, was a resident of Bagber village in the upazila and the son of the late Saku Pramanik.

According to police and local sources, the incident took place around 9:00 am in Baraipara village near the Water Development Board area. Shakil had gone there with four coworkers to work on a two-story building.

While working on the roof, a metal rod he was handling accidentally came into contact with an overhead live electric wire. He was electrocuted and thrown off the building, falling to the ground and suffering severe head injuries.

He was immediately rescued by coworkers and taken to Sariakandi Upazila Health Complex. On-duty) doctors later referred him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. However, he died on the way to the hospital around 10:00 am.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) AFM Asaduzzaman of Sariakandi Police Station said police visited the scene. As no complaint was filed, the body was handed over to the family. A case of unnatural death has been recorded in this regard.
