Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) is providing essential commodities including medicines to the doorsteps of the city residents as per of the initiative to keep people home to prevent the transmission of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
As per the directives of CMP Commissioner Mahabubur Rahman, the “Home Service” has been launched in all 16 police stations of the port city on Saturday.
City residents can avail the services by contacting a hotline number—01400400400.
Bijoy Basak, CMP Deputy Commissioner (North) said: “Police personnel are taking the daily essentials to the people’s doorsteps. This has been taken in order to curb the spread of coronavirus,” the DC said.
In a video which went viral on social media platforms, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali police station Md Mohsin was seen announcing over a loudhailer in the city.
“Please stay inside. The shop will reach at your doorsteps. You need not step out for shopping. The CMP has introduced the door-to-door shop services to help the people staying at home. Stay at home and stay safe,” the OC said.
