Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested former Chittagong Metropolitan Police commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondal.
He was taken into custody on Monday night from the Sabujbagh area of Dhaka by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police in connection with a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, DB Joint Commissioner Mohammad Nasirul Islam said:
“He has been taken into custody in a case filed under the ICT Act.”
According to sources, Abdul Jalil Mondal hails from Pabna district. During his career, he served as an Additional Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and as Commissioner of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
He also served as Additional Director General (Administration) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
Earlier in his career, he held the position of Superintendent of Police (SP) in Nilphamari, Bagerhat and Joypurhat districts.
