Child killed, four injured in Narayanganj septic tank explosion

The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)

A eight-month-old child was killed and four others of a family were injured in sceptic tank explosion in Baburail area of Narayanganj city on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Ahammad  while injured were  Ahammad 's father Tofazzal Hossain,50, his mother Ferdousi Begum,30 and two siblings Halima Begum, 11 and Mohammad Hossain 9, said Narayanganj Sadar police station OC Asaduzzaman.

Asaduzzaman said: " Ahammad and his family members were injured after septic tank of a two-storey building exploded around 4.45am on Friday in Baburail area. Later, locals took the injured to Narayanganj General Hospital where on duty doctor declared Ahammad dead."

"The injured were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated,." he added.

However, locals alleged a gas line of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd went beside the sceptic tank caused the explosion.

When asked about the allegations, OC Asaduzzaman said: "We are investigating the incident and it will take time to unearth the actual cause of the sceptic tank explosion."
