Miscreants have attacked a Victory Day program in Brahmanbaria and vandalized pictures of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The incident took place at the Branmanbaria District Council premises around 9am on Monday.
It occurred just before the program honouring freedom fighters, and Victory Day celebration were about to start.
The miscreants tore down picture of Bangabandhu and the prime minister, and also broke chairs and table at the venue, eyewitnesses said.
The guests present at the program strongly protested the incident.
Vandalized stage of the Branmanbaria Dictrict Council | Dhaka TribuneDistrict Council Chairman Shafiqul Alam visited the spot.
A protest procession was brought against the vandalism.
Shafiqul demanded the punishment of those involved in the incident.
“We will take legal action. I believe a faction within Awami League did it,” the chairman added.
Brahmanbaria Additional Superintendent of Police Alamgir Hossain said they are investigating the matter and will take necessary steps regarding the matter.
