For the first time in history, cattle markets in the port city of Chittagong will come under police surveillance with camera-fitted drones hovering over cattle markets.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Mahbubor Rahman made the announcement at a press briefing about security and traffic management, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha at Dampara Police Lines on Saturday.
"To avert any untoward incidents, we have taken adequate security measures in and around the cattle markets of the city. Police control rooms and watch towers will be set up in the cattle markets. For the first time, drones with cameras will hover over the cattle markets. Also, fake note detecting machines will be set up in the cattle markets with the help of Bangladesh Bank," said the CMP Commissioner.

The CMP chief also said no cattle markets would be allowed outside of areas specifically designated by the city corporation.
"Uniformed and undercover police personnel will remain vigilant in and around the cattle markets. We have also already arrested many doping gangs. We have asked the police not to stop cattle-laden trucks without specific information," said the CMP Commissioner.
