Mob kills youth for theft in Kaliakoir

A suspected thief was beaten to death by a mob in Kaliakoir area of Gazipur early Thursday. The deceased is Sagar, 34, from Chandpur. Police said that locals of Gachhbari area had noticed some youths along with two cows roaming around there around 3am. They later managed to catch four of the suspected cattle lifters when they attempted to flee, and gave them a good beating. The mob also set fire to the vehicles belonging to the gang and clashed with the police when they reached the scene. Kaliakoir police's Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ali Jinnah said that a team of police had gone to the spot on information and rescued the youths. Critically injured Sagar and three of his associates were taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead.
