Police on Thursday arrested three people for trying to silence the case of a gang rape and murder of a girl in Sirajganj's Shahjadpur.
The detainees were identified as Narayana UP Member Abdul Jalil, Ferozul Islam, and Noor Mohammad Munshi.
Police conducted a drive on Wednesday evening at Jugnidah village and arrested them.
Shahjadpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaja Md Golam Kibria said: "They were arrested on charges of attempting to cover up the case of gang rape and murder of a girl in Sirajganj's Shahjadpur."
On March 26, three youths poured poison into the mouth of a 15-year-old girl after reportedly gang-raping her at Jugnidaha Madhypara village, leaving her dead.
Her family members said the three youths took turns violating the girl when she went to a nearby farmland to collect vegetables on Thursday evening.
The victim's father had filed a case with the Shahjadpur police station.
