Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders of Ishwardi Government College have beaten up their Principal Dr Abdus Sabur Khan and Vice Principal Abdul Jalil for not selling the college prospectus on Thursday.
The BCL men also vandalized the principal’s office and stopped the 11th grade admission test that was going on.
The principal and vice principal were attacked by Ishwardi upazila BCL President Rakibul Hasan Rony, College BCL President Khandaker Arman, General Secretary Hasan, along with 40 BCL cadres.

The principal was dragged out of his office and verbally and physically assaulted; some teachers were beaten up while trying to save the principal.
The College Principal Dr Sabur Khan filed a case with the Ishwardi police station on Thursday night against the 40 BCL men including the BCL leaders, mentioning also the names of 11 BCL men.
“The case-79 was recorded around 1am Friday, where the part of asking Tk2 lakh as ransom was left out,” said Dr Sabur.
Dr Sabur said: “I was physically assaulted by them (BCL men) along with my colleagues for not selling the college prospectus, which was against the law. After they beat me up they also demanded Tk2 lakh as ransom, if I did not sell the prospectus to them.”
The news of the assault has created unrest in the college campus. Some teachers said they were baffled by the incident.
The BCL leaders including Rakibul were not be reachable over the phone.
A trusted source said that all the BCL men have gone into hiding to avoid being arrested.
Pabna Superintendent of Police Jihadul Kabir PPM said: “Whoever is responsible for this occurrence will be brought to justice. Ishawardi police station has already been directed to arrest the ones involved.”
Officer-In-Charge of Ishwardi Police Station Azimuddin confirming the news said: “Police have already started its operation to arrest the culprits who assaulted the college principal.”

The accused are men of Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, and locals are afraid to comment on them.
Some leaders of the Awami League and ex leaders of BCL have requested not to disclose the name of the accused as they are too dangerous to be dealt with.
