In protest of the impending increase in electricity prices, a number of leftist parties in Bangladesh have called a six-hour nationwide hartal on Thursday, November 30.

The Communist Party of Bangladesh, Socialist Party of Bangladesh, and Democratic Left Alliance of Bangladesh announced the hartal through a press release on Thursday, November 23, after the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commisison (BERC) said it planned to hike the price of electricity for retail consumers by 5.3%.
According to the press release, the hartal shall begin at 6am and end at 2pm on November 30.
