The government is considering the introduction of a new law which would impose fines on public servants if they fail to provide services to the people, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam has said.
He made the comment on Wednesday while inaugurating a workshop on banking and shares market at the Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market auditorium, organised by Bank and Financial Institutions Division.
The cabinet secretary mentioned that civil servants in India were being fined for their failure to issue licenses for vehicles within 10 days.
“The AC (land) of Kurigram has already introduced a daily fine for not providing services to the people. We are now observing the practice,” he said.
