Update : 14 Mar 2024, 11:08 AM

A factory in Comilla has been sealed for manufacturing soft drinks powder in unsanitary and dirty conditions.

Apart from this, two more institutions have been fined Tk2.5 lakh.

Comilla district administration and BSTI conducted these operations throughout the day on Wednesday.

BSTI Comilla Deputy Director KM Hanif said: “Mizan Agro Food Products Limited of Comilla's Chauddagram Bisik Shilpanagari had been producing, packaging and marketing soft drinks powder in a dirty, unsanitary and dangerous environment for a long time. So, the institution was sealed. At that time, goods worth approximately Tk3.5 lakh in the company were seized.”

He further said: “Miyaji Agro Food Industries of the same area was packing and marketing rice products without obtaining product packaging registration certificate and was using truck-way bridge scale for commercial purposes without BSTI verification certificate. So, this company was fined Tk2 lakh. Another company named Bay Food Industries Limited was packaging and marketing rice, biscuits, bread, cakes, fermented milk, and rasmalai (local sweets) without registration. Therefore, the company was fined Tk50,000. Such operations will continue in public interest.”
