Ad-din Medical College Hospital authorities have sought permission to continue operations until a final decision is reached, despite the cancellation of the hospital's licence following the deaths of six newborns.

In a press release issued to the media on Thursday night, the hospital made the statement.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recently revoked the licence of Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Mogbazar, Dhaka, following the deaths of six newborns at the facility.

Under the DGHS directive, the hospital has been given 30 days to file an appeal against the cancellation order.

In its statement, the hospital authorities said they hope the government will allow them to continue providing routine healthcare services in the interest of patients until a final decision is made.

The hospital further stated that 416 patients are currently admitted. Around 1,000 patients received outpatient services on Thursday.

It also added that 60 newborns are being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), while 20 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and four in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
