Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin has tested positive for Covid-19.
His Covid-19 test report came back as positive on Wednesday noon, according to Dipankar Bar, senior information officer at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Dipankar Bar said: “The minister’s sample was collected by The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Tuesday. His result came today which said that he has been infected with the deadly virus.”
“The minister has been admitted at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) as per prime minister’s advice,” he added.
“Md Shahab Uddin has been suffering from diabetes and some other health complications. He has asked everyone to pray for him,” he said.
Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque and State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Faruk were infected and made recovery from the virus infection.
