The Covid-19 test positivity percentage continues to be above 20% in Bangladesh, with 20.94% of the samples tested between Monday and Tuesday found to be positive.
During the daily briefing on the country’s Covid-19 situation on Tuesday, Prof Nasima Sultana, additional director general at the Directorate General of Health Services, said as many as 17,563 samples had been collected between Monday and Tuesday.

Of those, 16,292 samples were tested in 63 authorized labs – government and private – across the country. With 3,412 of the tests coming back positive, the detection rate of new patients in the last 24 hours stands at 20.94%, Prof Nasima said.
On June 18, Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh crossed the grim 100,000-mark since the country detected its first cases back in March.

On June 17, Bangladesh recorded 4,008 new coronavirus cases, the highest in a 24-hour span.
So far, 627,719 tests have been conducted across Bangladesh, Nasima said.
