A total of four Covid-19 infected patients have left Dhaka on a special air ambulance arranged by the Turkish government.
A special air ambulance arranged by the health ministry of Turkey departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 10:04pm on Sunday, Group Captain AHM Touhid ul Ahsan, director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport confirmed the matter.
Four coronavirus patients, including a Turkish citizen and her Bangladeshi husband who is a Turkish expatriate and their two children, have been evacuated from Bangladesh by air ambulance for better treatment, said the airport director.
“Turba Ahsan, a Turkish national, her Bangladeshi husband Mosaddeq Ahsan and their three-year-old twins Huma and Ziad have been evacuated from Dhaka to Turkey in an air ambulance,” the Turkish Embassy in Bangladesh said in a statement.
Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mostafa Osman Turan and Deputy Chief of Mission Enis Faruk Erdem were present at the airport.
“Turkey has been providing free air ambulance services to its citizens in any part of the world since 2006,” the ambassador said in a statement.
He added: “Turkey has evacuated 211 people from around the world in air ambulances this year due to their emergency health situation in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Any Turkish citizen who is unable to receive the necessary treatment for coronavirus for any reason is being offered this service by their government.”
Earlier, on April 21, a total of 154 Turkish nationals left Bangladesh on a chartered flight of Turkish Airlines.
