The government has posted the newly-appointed 2,000 doctors to hospitals dedicated for treating coronavirus patients.
In notification by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday, the doctors have been told to join on May 12.
The newly-recruited doctors will have to work in medical facilities for Covid-19 patients until further order, it said.
On May 4, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing the 2,000 doctors as assistant surgeons from the 39th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.
Meanwhile, coronavirus or Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh surged to 14,657 on Sunday after the health authorities announced the detection of 887 new patients in the last 24 hours.
Besides, 14 more deaths were reported during the period, taking the death toll in the country to 228.
