Following the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) landslide victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, central leaders of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) held a goodwill and views-exchange meeting with Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) leaders, teachers, physicians, officials, nurses, and staff on Thursday at Shaheed Dr Milton Hall.

During the meeting, DAB leaders described the BNP’s victory as a win for the country, its people, and democracy.

Speakers stressed safeguarding the victory, building a corruption- and terrorism-free nation, maintaining peace and discipline, resisting propaganda, and implementing welfare-oriented reforms in the healthcare sector.

Healthcare professionals were urged to act responsibly, avoid overenthusiasm, and perform duties with patience, honesty, and transparency. Leaders highlighted the importance of a humane, rights-based, accountable scientific healthcare system and treating healthcare as a public asset, calling for united efforts to implement the BNP’s 31-point reform agenda.

Physician leaders assured that those unfairly deprived or persecuted in the past would be properly evaluated and thanked DAB leaders and doctors across about 300 parliamentary constituencies for their efforts in securing the party’s electoral victory.

Speakers also encouraged all to work together to implement BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman’s slogan: “We will work, we will build the country — Bangladesh first.”

The meeting was moderated by BMU DAB General Secretary and Proctor Dr Sheikh Farhad.

Attendees included DAB Central President Prof Dr Harun Al Rashid, General Secretary Dr Md Zahidul Islam Shakil, BMU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Prof Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader, BMU DAB President and Director (Planning and Development) Dr Erfanul Haque Siddiqui, along with other senior DAB leaders, faculty members, and officials.

The event concluded with healthcare professionals reaffirming their commitment to strengthen the country’s healthcare system and support democratic governance.
