2 hospitals locked down in Sherpur, OC tests positive

The local administration locked down two hospitals in Sadar and Nakla upazilas after two physicians and an ambulance driver tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.

In addition, three more people have been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, including the officer-in-charge of Jhenaigati Police Station, taking the total number of infected people in the district to 15, reports UNB.

Dr Mujibur Rahman, health and family planning officer of Nakla, said Nakla Health Complex was locked down after two of its physicians tested positive for Covid-19.

Sadar Hospital was also locked down after an ambulance driver was diagnosed with the coronavirus, said Civil Surgeon Dr Abul Quasem Md Anwarur Rauf.

However, emergency services of both the hospitals will remain open, he added.  

Furthermore, an official of the Civil Surgeon’s Office has also tested positive for the coronavirus and a lockdown of the office is being considered.

Qazi Ashraful Azim, superintendent of district police, said the civil surgeon had informed him about the OC of Jhenaigati Police Station being infected with coronavirus.
