Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Masudur Rahman of the Sherpur-3 (Sreebardi–Jhenaigati) constituency has announced a boycott of the election, alleging irregularities.

He made the announcement at a press conference at 3pm on Thursday.

He alleged that agents of the scales symbol candidate were expelled from polling centres and that incidents of fake voting and open ballot stamping took place. Despite informing the presiding officer and the police, no remedy was provided, he said.

Earlier in the day, at a press conference held at the party’s central office, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar also alleged various irregularities in the by-elections in the Bogra-6 and Sherpur-3 constituencies.
