BPSC claims media spreading false information on BCS exams

In order to eliminate confusion among candidates and concerned parties, the commission has issued clear instructions regarding the examinations

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has alleged that both print and electronic media have recently been disseminating baseless and partial information regarding various ongoing Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations.

The BPSC made the claim in a press release sent to the media on Sunday afternoon.

The release stated that, in order to eliminate confusion among candidates and concerned parties, the commission has issued clear instructions regarding the examinations.

The BPSC also stated that efforts are underway to resolve the complications surrounding the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS examinations.

The release mentioned that the written exams for compulsory subjects of the 46th BCS will be held between May 8 and 19 this year, while the subject-related exams are likely to start in the last week of June and will be completed by July 7, 2025.

It was further stated that the oral examinations of 46th BCS candidates—who are also participating in the 44th BCS oral tests scheduled from April 22 to May 19—will remain suspended.

The suspended oral exams will be conducted as soon as possible after June 16, 2025, and the revised schedule will be announced shortly, it said.

The final results of the 44th BCS are planned to be published by June 2025, it added.

Similarly, the written exam results of the 45th BCS are also scheduled for release within June 2025.

The preliminary examination of the 47th BCS, initially set for June 27, has been rescheduled to August 8, 2025.

The release also mentioned that the BPSC is making every effort to resolve the complications involving the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS exams as quickly as possible, keeping in mind the concerns of all BCS candidates.

The commission emphasized that, for essential activities such as question paper printing and examination center selection, it must rely on other institutions.

The BPSC urged all concerned individuals to regularly visit the commission’s official website for updates and to consider it the only reliable source of information regarding its decisions.

Notably, following the announcement of the schedules for the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS exams, the BPSC had informed concerned parties about the possibility of deferring the written exam for the 46th BCS.

When no resolution was reached, candidates protested in front of the BPSC office on Tuesday and eventually entered the premises.

The authorities requested three days to review their demands.

However, on Wednesday, the PSC expressed its inability to defer the exam.

On Thursday, as candidates resumed their protest, clashes broke out between BCS candidates and law enforcement, including the army.

During the incident, three individuals were detained by military personnel.
