Portfolios have been allocated to two newly appointed advisers of the interim government and duties have been redistributed among the existing advisers.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification regarding the assignments following their oath-taking ceremony at Bangabhaban on Sunday evening. The notification signed by Sheikh Abdur Rashid, secretary of the Cabinet Division, says this order will take effect immediately.
Sk Bashir Uddin, managing director of AkijBashir Group, is the new adviser for the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.
Filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki will take the helm of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
However, Mahfuj Alam has not yet been given any portfolio.
With these three taking the oath of office, the number of members in the interim government’s advisory council now stands at 24.
Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus is overseeing the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division and Ministry of Public Administration.
Dr Salehuddin Ahmed is in charge of the Ministry of Finance, while Dr Asif Nazrul is responsible for the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs as well as the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.
AF Hassan Ariff is running the Ministry of Land as well as the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Ali Imam Majumder has been given the Ministry of Food.
Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan is managing the Ministry of Youth and Sports, along with the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain will oversee the Ministry of Shipping and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The interim government, headed by Dr Muhammad Yunus as chief adviser, was formed on August 8 following the ouster of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government amid a mass uprising.
