Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has said that the interim government is committed to enhancing the livelihoods of the people of Bangladesh.
Speaking during a meeting on Wednesday with a four-member delegation from JICA, led by Chief Representative Ichiguchi Tomohide, Khan emphasized the government’s dedication to addressing corruption, injustice, and inequities under the guise of development.
Khan, who also serves as the advisor for power, energy, and mineral resources, announced that the interim government has decided to revoke the controversial Section 34 (ka) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act (BERC) and replace it with an open tender process.
During the meeting, Khan requested JICA's financial and technical support to reopen two affected metro train stations and to assist in various sectors, including road, bridge, rail, and power infrastructure.
Ichiguchi Tomohide congratulated the interim government on its efforts and expressed JICA's ongoing interest in contributing to Bangladesh's development.
Tomohide praised the interim government's role and reaffirmed JICA’s commitment as a development partner, focusing on transparency and environmental safety.
He also sought government cooperation to complete ongoing JICA projects in Bangladesh.
