Bangladesh and Malaysia have explored avenues for enhanced cooperation in tourism, focusing on connectivity, visa facilitation, skills development and cultural exchanges to create more enriching experiences for travellers from both countries.

The issues were discussed at a meeting between State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat and Malaysian Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Chiew Choon Man in Putrajaya on Tuesday, according to a press release received on Wednesday.

During the talks, the two sides discussed a range of measures to deepen tourism cooperation, including increasing flight frequencies, facilitating visas and pre-verification, strengthening capacity building and expanding cultural exchanges.

They also exchanged views on sharing expertise, experiences and best practices in tourism development as part of efforts to broaden mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides discussed cooperation in training and skills development in the hospitality industry, with a particular focus on increasing recruitment of trained Bangladeshi personnel in Malaysia's tourism service sector.

The meeting underscored the importance of closer cooperation in promoting tourism, strengthening people-to-people connectivity and creating greater opportunities for cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

The discussions also contributed to strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia while identifying new areas for mutually beneficial collaboration.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury was present at the meeting.

Senior officials from Malaysia's Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Tourism Malaysia and the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur also attended the meeting.
