Brent Neiman arrives in Dhaka to lead US delegation for talks

First US delegation visit since the formation of the interim government

Brent Neiman, assistant secretary for International Finance at the Department of the Treasury arrived in Dhaka Saturday to lead a US delegation to discuss issues on bilateral relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
 
He was received at the airport by Khandker Masudul Alam, DG (North America) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
The delegation will include representatives from the US Department of the Treasury, USAID, and the Office of the US Trade Representative. 
 

A US Department of State spokesperson stated that discussions will focus on how the United States can support Bangladesh’s economic growth, financial stability, and development needs.

Assistant Secretary Donald Lu who is currently in New Delhi will join the interagency delegation later today for meetings with the Bangladeshi interim government. 
 
They will meet Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Sunday.
 
This is the first US delegation visiting Bangladesh after Dr Yunus took charge of the interim government on August 8.
