After two years, the foreign secretaries of Bangladesh and India will meet on Wednesday.
In this regard, Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra is scheduled to come to Dhaka on Tuesday.
Discussions on water, trade, border situation, climate change, security, line of credit and other issues will be held in the meeting.
In addition, there is a possibility that the preparation of the Joint Consultative Commission will be discussed in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries in the middle of this year.
In this regard, Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen said: “This is a regular meeting with the Indian foreign secretary. Last time, I went to Delhi. He did not come that way after the new foreign secretary was appointed. We will discuss all the issues of the two countries.”
Earlier in April 2022, Kwatra came to Dhaka during the visit of Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar to Bangladesh.
The foreign secretary said: “Many high-level meetings have been held in the last one year. If there is any problem in its implementation, we will look into it. We will try to discuss all the issues in a relatively short period of time.”
He added: “The possible visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Delhi on the occasion of the G-20 summit will be discussed.”
Regarding the complications related to the purchase of electricity from Adani, he said: “It is not a matter of the Ministry of External Affairs directly. I will consider any request from the relevant ministry in this regard.”
The last foreign secretary meeting between the two countries was held in Delhi in January 2021.
