An aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) has returned from China with essential medical aid and equipment.
The BAF C-130J aircraft arrived in Dhaka on Sunday, according to an Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) press release.
ISPR said the aircraft flew for China from Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport on April 17, with 16 crew members on board. BAF Air Commodore Md Zahidur Rahman led the team.
The aircraft returned from China with Covid-19 detection kits, 1,222,000 surgical masks, 7,500 n95-masks, 130 electric thermometers, 2,000 protective gloves, 10,200 medical safety glasses, 200 goggles and 10,459 items of PPE, the press release said.
A total 2,456 cases of Covid-19 have so far been confirmed in Bangladesh, with 91 fatalities.
The fast spreading SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19 and was first reported in China's Wuhan, has claimed 161,196 lives and infected 2,345,476 people across the world as of 4:50pm on Sunday, according to worldometer.
