Calling BNP leaders and activists friends, Awami League Candidate for Brahmanbaria-3, Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, on Saturday urged them to use their civic rights to vote at a rally in the Sadar upazila of the district.
“My friends from BNP are not participating in the election. So I ask them to exercise their right to vote. It will protect your rights. The country will be saved. People will be relieved,” he said.
The Awami League leader started his campaign with a procession of activists and supporters on Saturday morning.
Member of Parliament and District Awami League President Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury organized the public rallies in Ganggihata, Mohammadpur, Ulchapara, and Brijeshwar villages of Ramrail Union of Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila ahead of the 12th national elections.
He highlighted various aspects of the current government and said: “You must think about whether your child will roam the streets intoxicated or improve the country's reputation by becoming a good citizen. We must ensure that young generation stay away from drug abuse.”
Notably, Lion Firozur Rahman Olio, the recently resigned Chairman of Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila Parishad, is competing with Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury from Brahmanbaria-3 seat. He received backlash for referring to his liquor business as halal.
