The final admission deadline for first-year undergraduate (honours) programs at the 20 public universities under the cluster admission system for the 2025-26 academic year has been extended to July 21 due to adverse weather conditions across the country.
The decision was taken at an emergency virtual meeting of the cluster admission committee on Saturday, chaired by Professor Dr AKM Matinur Rahman, vice-chancellor of the Islamic University and convener of the admission test committee.
The committee said many students were unable to reach their assigned universities and complete the admission process within the original deadline because of the weather, prompting the extension.
According to the admission committee, there are currently 420 vacant seats across the cluster universities, with the highest number of vacancies at the University of Barisal and Patuakhali Science and Technology University.
Acting Registrar of the Islamic University Professor Dr Manjurul Haque said the university still has 36 vacant seats, including 35 under the merit quota and one under other quotas.
Eligible candidates can complete the required formalities and confirm their admission within the extended deadline.
