A case has been filed against a male outsider who entered a Jahangirnagar University (JU) student dormitory.
The outsider, Ashraful Islam alias Jajabar Parvez, was detained from a room at the Nawab Faizunnesa Hall of Jahangirnagar University.
Later, on Sunday afternoon, Deputy Registrar (Security) Zefrul Hasan Chowdhury filed a case against him at Ashulia police station.
Ashulia police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Noor Alam Siddique said the accused is in custody and will be presented in court on Monday.
Regarding the incident, JU Proctor AKM Rashidul Alam said the female student involved has been suspended, adding that punishment will be determined based on the investigation committee’s report, which will be approved by the Syndicate.
Earlier, the involved student was suspended. Later in the afternoon, a five-member investigation committee was formed, led by the hall warden, Associate Professor Habibur Rahman, to investigate the incident.
