The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have evicted all floating shops on the campus, including the vendors from the TSC area.
The drive was conducted in the presence of the Dhaka University Estate Office, Proctorial Team and General Students on Tuesday afternoon.
It is learned that the employees of the Estate Office of Dhaka University evicted all the floating shops, including tea stalls, and cigarette shops, located at the TSC of Dhaka University.
Dhaka University Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed and other members of the proctorial body were present on the occasion.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Dhaka University Estate Manager Fatema Binte Mustafa.
After the eviction of the TSC shops, the university administration removed all the shops on the streets owned by Dhaka University.
Flower shops, and food shops in front of Curzon Hall via TSC were evicted.
Later, they went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital via Shahidullah Hall and ended the eviction drive at the Central Shaheed Minar.
During the eviction drive, the construction of an illegal building, an office of the city corporation on the university land, was seen beside Shahidullah Hall.

It is learned that the building was being constructed on the university land without any approval.
Although some construction workers were found at that time, they could not say under whose supervision the building was being constructed.
At that time, the university's estate manager Fatima Binte Mustafa ordered to stop the construction of the building.

Dhaka University Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed said that they have evicted all floating and illegal shops located on DU campus.
Regarding the eviction of TSC's tea shop, he said: "Some shops will be set up at TSC later. In that case, the shops allotted by the university will be allowed to set up in the TSC through discussion with the students and the application of the shopkeepers. In that case, the shops will have to pay rent to the university.”
Meanwhile, Estate Manager Fatema Binte Mostafa said that the proctor will make a list of shops in this regard at all the places where shops are needed.
The new shop will be approved on the campus only after it is approved in the syndicate meeting. Until then, the administration will evict all illegal shops.
