Dr Mohammad Azam made new DG of Bangla Academy

Dr Mohammad Azam has been appointed as the director general of the Bangla Academy.

He is currently serving as an associate professor in the Department of Bengali at the University of Dhaka.

The confirmation of Dr Azam's appointment was confirmed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Khalil Ahmed.

When asked about the appointment, Dr Mohammad Azam said that he was informed about the matter by the Ministry of Public Administration.

Dr Mohammad Azam was born on August 23, 1975, in Hatiya, Noakhali. After completing his undergraduate and master's degrees from the Department of Bengali at Dhaka University, he earned his PhD degree through research on the colonization and decolonization of the Bengali language.

His areas of interest include literature, aesthetics, history, politics, and cultural studies.

Among Dr Mohammad Azam's published works are 'Bangla o Promito Bangla Samachar', and edited volumes such as 'Nirbachito Kabita: Syed Ali Ahsan' and 'Kobi o Kobitar Sandhane'.
