Academic activities including in-person classes will resume at Jagannath University from Sunday.

This decision was made by Prof Md Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, treasurer of the university, after a meeting with teachers and protesting students.

Initially, the decision was taken to conduct online classes but the students rejected it.

Even teachers from various departments have requested that online classes be discontinued.

After that, it was decided to start in-person classes.

Urmi Akter Jhinuk, a student of mass communication and journalism department, said: "We are away from all academic subjects as the university had been closed for a long time due to the unstable situation in the country. Most of the year finals were supposed to be held before the closure, but could not be taken. As a result, the continuity of learning has been disrupted.

"For this, we need to go back classroom. So I am looking to start classes at the university in a positive way.”

Another student Ashiqur Rahman said: "We have been out of studies for a long time. It feels good to start classes again, thinking that all the friends can be together again. The learning environment will be back to normal.”

Earlier, the university has been closed for more than a month due to the students' quota reform movement and the teachers' universal pension assurance scheme.

Despite the acceptance of the teachers' demands, the quota reform movement spread throughout the country. Students are finally returning to the university after a long break.
