The Ministry of Education has taken a decision not to conduct half-yearly and annual examinations from grades six to nine in public and private schools.
Half-yearly collective assessments will be conducted in the middle of the year and annual collective assessments at the end of the year.
Besides, pre-test exams and test exams will be held for tenth grade, according to a curriculum published on Thursday by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) of the Ministry of Education.
According to the academic calendar, the six-monthly collective assessment and pre-test examination of secondary and lower secondary government and private schools in 2024 will begin in May. The evaluation will start on May 23 and will continue till June 9.
On July 10, the results of the six-monthly collective evaluation and pre-test examination will be published.
The annual collective evaluation of the new curriculum of the secondary and lower secondary educational institutions will start on November 21 and will continue till December 8.
The evaluation result will be published on December 30.
Sources from the Ministry of Education said that the six-monthly and annual collective evaluation should be organized according to this schedule.
Evaluation documents must be kept by the school for at least one year. The assessment date cannot be changed. Assessment questions should be formulated by teachers themselves. Questions collected from any source cannot be evaluated.
On the other hand, in 2024, there will be no examination for first, second and third-grade students in primary school. Half-yearly and annual examinations will be held only for classes IV and V.
It will also be canceled from 2025.
From that year, the new curriculum will be launched in the fourth and fifth grades. As a result, half-yearly and annual examinations are being stopped in educational institutions.
