DU suspends 2 Proloy Gang members for involvement in criminal activities

They were asked to explain within seven working days why they should not be expelled from the university

The Dhaka University authorities have suspended two students from the 2020-21 academic session for their involvement in anti-disciplinary activities, misconduct and tarnishing the university's image.

Those suspended are Naimur Rahman Durjoy of the Anthropology Department and Sakib Ferdous of the International Business Department, both DU-based Proloy Gang members, known for criminal activities.

The university authorities issued a notice in this regard on Tuesday.

They were asked to explain within seven working days why they should not be expelled from the university.

They were arrested and sent to jail on Monday on charges of assaulting a student of Dhaka University in front of Kabi Jasimuddin Hall on Saturday.

Sadia Afroz Khan, the mother of victim Jobayer, filed a case accusing 24 students (Proloy Gang members) at Shahabag police station on Sunday.

According to the complaint, the gang members beat up Jobayer in front of Kabi Jasimuddin Hall of Dhaka University.
