There are over 700,000 more seats available for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations than the number of students who cleared Secondary School Certificate (SSC) this year, Education Minister Dipu Moni has said.
“HSC admission tests will be held as per the rules. The students who have cleared SSC this year, have no chance to fail the entrance exam competition. Everyone will get a seat,” she said at an event in Chandpur on Monday.
“All of our educational institutions have trained and qualified teachers. So there is no chance to fail the admission tests,” she added.
“Our country has several institutions that select the best students for themselves. When the most brilliant bunch gets together, then by their own will, parent's and institution's determination, they perform a lot better,” the minister said.
Later, she suggested that parents monitor their children's behavior to ensure that they do not choose any wrong paths. “ If we all do our duties properly, then students too will be able to build their futures.”
Altogether 87.44% of candidates have obtained passing grades in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations, down from 93.58% the previous year.
The nine general education boards saw a combined pass rate of 88.1%, the Madrasah Education Board 82.22%, and the Technical Education Board 89.55%.
This year's SSC and equivalent exams under eleven boards, including madrasa (Dakhil) and technical education boards, started across the country on September 15.
A total of 2,021,868 students from 29,591 educational institutions took part in the exams at 3,790 centres. Altogether 1,599,711 students participated in the SSC exams under the nine general education boards.
