Regarding the decision on student politics inside the campus of private universities, Bangladesh Private University Association opined that students of respective private universities will decide whether there will be political parties in their universities or not.
The association sent their opinion in writing to the chairmen and vice-chancellors of the board of trustees of all private universities in Bangladesh on Tuesday.
Sheikh Kabir Hossain, president of the association, gave the written opinion as per the decision of a meeting that the executive committee of the association organized on September 5.
"We are particularly aware of the widespread anxiety among the students and their parents over the recent announcement of student politics and committees of political student organizations in private universities,” he said.
The members of the executive committee of the association welcomed Dipu Moni’s statement in this regard and said she justly declared that educational institutions will decide the matter of student politics with their students and not the education ministry.
According to the association, private universities have been operating according to their policies, discipline, rules and regulations.
We believe that the private universities will take appropriate decisions in the interest of maintaining a suitable environment for the students to study according to their policies, discipline and regulations, the association added.
