Several roads in Dhaka are experiencing traffic congestion on Saturday due to multiple events marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day, with traffic officials advising commuters to avoid affected areas where possible.
The Traffic Division has urged commuters traveling through Manik Mia Avenue, the parliament complex, Tejgaon and surrounding areas to allow extra time for their journeys.
Areas where traffic congestion may increase
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs is organizing the “Concert for Solidarity” at Manik Mia Avenue. Scheduled to begin at 3pm and continue until midnight, the concert has prompted the closure of 1 lane of the road adjacent to the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building since morning.
A procession is also scheduled to depart from in front of the BNP's central office in Naya Paltan and proceed to the concert venue at Manik Mia Avenue.
As a result, traffic congestion may increase in the afternoon along roads connecting Naya Paltan, Kakrail, Farmgate, Asad Gate and Manik Mia Avenue.
Meanwhile, the Grand Rally of Village Police has been underway since morning at the National Parade Ground in Tejgaon.
Around 40,000 village police personnel are participating in the rally, contributing to traffic congestion around the Trade Fair Ground, Tejgaon and adjacent areas. Traffic disruptions have been reported in these areas since morning.
