Revolutionary Student-Youth Movement holds 7th National Council at TSC

Speakers criticized the interim government for betraying the people’s aspirations after the July uprising, and called for united struggle to build a truly democratic state based on socialism and communism

The 7th National Council of the Revolutionary Student-Youth Movement was held on Friday at the ShoparjitoShadhinota “Payra” Square in TSC.

Comrade Towfika Priya presided over the first session, which was conducted by Comrade Biplob Bhattacharjee. Speakers included Comrade Hasan Fakri, president of the Martyred Revolutionaries and Patriots Memorial Council; Comrade Badol Shah Alam, former leader and editor of Khanan; Harun-ur-Rashid of Maulana Bhasani Parishad; Prakash Dutta of the National Democratic Front; former leader Comrade Abu Bakkar Siddique Rumel; Comrade Razzak of the Revolutionary Workers’ Movement; women’s organizer Sadia Afroz; indigenous organizer Laboni Tanchangya; Jafar Hossain of the New Democratic People’s Front; and Dhaka city convener Comrade Naim Uddin.

The second session began at 2:30pm, discussing political proposals, organizational reports and the constitution. A 19-member national committee was unanimously elected, with Comrade Towfika Priya as president and Comrades Naim Uddin and Abdullah Al Matin Badsha as vice-presidents.
