Gono Forum: Interim govt deep asleep amid deteriorating law and order

Advocate Subrata Chowdhury called on the government for immediate action to restore control

Update : 15 Mar 2025, 03:44 PM

Gono Forum Presidium Member Advocate Subrata Chowdhury has remarked that the interim government is in a deep slumber despite the extreme deterioration of law and order in the country.

Addressing the government, he said: "Wake up immediately, or else you will not be able to control the situation."

He made these statements at a protest rally in front of Mukti Bhaban in Purana Paltan on Saturday, Bangla Tribune reports.

Earlier, Gono Forum organized a protest march from the National Press Club, demanding justice for murder and rape and protesting the deteriorating law and order situation. Gono Forum General Secretary Mizanur Rahman and other leaders and activists participated in the demonstration.

Advocate Subrata Chowdhury said: "A certain group is making desperate attempts to depoliticize the country. They are continuously oppressing our mothers and sisters. Murder and rape have taken on epidemic proportions. Women are being subjected to obscene verbal abuse. Yet, the state is taking no action against them. Instead, they are being welcomed with garlands. They are walking free after securing bail from the courts. If this kind of cultural degradation returns like before, Bangladesh will face a catastrophic situation."

"New slogans are being used to divide us once again. As long as the freedom fighters are alive, we cannot let Bangladesh be pushed backward. No unjust demands will be tolerated here."

He called on the government to put an immediate stop to these activities and also demanded security for every political leader and activist.
