The Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (IFB) has urged everyone to maintain the sanctity of Ramadan.
According to a press release, the IFB announced that it had made the call during a rally organized on Saturday morning on the premises of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to welcome the holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Arabic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm), prayers (salah), recitation of the Holy Quran, and other religious activities.
The rally was led by IFB Director General A Salam Khan.
It commenced from the north gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, passed through various thoroughfares in the surrounding areas, and concluded at the mosque's south gate.
Among those present at the event were IFB Director Mohammad Touhidul Anwar, Md Anisur Rahman Sarkar, Dr Mohammad Harunur Rashid, Islamic scholars, IFB officials, and employees.
