DMTCL's current and former MDs met ministry officials and discussed concerns with employees

Update : 20 Feb 2025, 08:19 PM

The permanent employees of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), who had previously threatened to go on strike demanding the finalization of a comprehensive service regulation, have withdrawn their warning, ensuring that metro rail operations will remain unaffected on Friday in observance of International Mother Language Day.

Several permanent employees of DMTCL confirmed this development on Thursday, at around 5:30pm.

According to them, both the current and former Managing Directors (MD) of DMTCL met with the senior secretary and adviser at the ministry earlier in the day.

Following this meeting, they held discussions with the protesting permanent officers and employees and requested additional time to address their concerns.

After deliberation, the employees agreed to grant a 30-day period, expressing their hope that within this timeframe, the government’s directives will be properly implemented to formulate a people-friendly service rule.

Meanwhile, employees engaged in DMTCL’s various lines on deputation have stated that they are in no way involved in any threats to disrupt metro rail services.

They have emphasized their desire for a prompt resolution to the ongoing issues while ensuring that metro rail operations continue without disruption.
