The vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, on Friday told Dhaka Tribune that the university administration plans to hold the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union election by May 21.
Earlier, this information had also been announced through a notice signed by the VC, who is also the central student union president.
The notice stated that the Jucsu election will be held in the third week of May.
For this purpose, the election commission, which has already been formed, will announce the election schedule at least 21 days before the election, that is, in the last week of April, following the constitution of Jucsu.
JU officially started its journey on January 12, 1971.
Jucsu was formed in 1972, just after the university's establishment.
Since then, Jucsu elections have been held a total of nine times -- in 1974, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1992.
After a gap of 32 years, the university authorities announced the roadmap for the Jucsu election and formed an election commission on December 30.
The commission has also prepared the voter list.
